If you have ever had the chance to meet Mathew aka Mister Domestic in person there is one thing you won’t stop doing… smiling and laughing. He is the happiest person and it is infectious. I was so excited at Quiltcon in Savannah to be able to hang out with him and get to know him a little bit better. To be honest we laughed a lot and talked about fabric, sewing, thread, and creating nonstop. It was the best time ever. I knew I need to have him on the podcast for a chat because I wanted to share his enthusiasm about the sewing industry with you all. Mathew and I chat about his introduction to sewing, his surprising background in the industry, his new project with English Paper Piecing, and so much more. I enjoyed this conversation so much and I know you will too.
I love improv quilting and when I saw Patricia Belyea’s new book, East Meets West Quilts, I was intrigued. I couldn’t stop looking at the colors of the fabrics, the quilting, and the binding. I know binding isn’t usually something I get excited about but I really loved how Patricia showed the purpose and beauty of a faced binding. I really want to try that technique out and that says a lot because I don’t hand bind very often.
