Carolina and I are back with another episode of fun. We update you on how your help is making history with the spot on dot. A listener sent in a clarification about the fires in Australia. We both have so much to chat about so we had to make ourselves stop talking! Hope you enjoy and please check out the links below for more info! Support our sponsors too!

Zoe Dawn is my guest on the podcast today. I follow Zoe on instagram and really admire her work. She uses thrifted and gifted fabric to sew her handmade heirloom items for her etsy shop. Zoe and I chat about why she is conscious about her materials for her shop, how she finds time to be creative while being a busy mom and farmer’s wife, and so much more. Zoe and I had such a great time talking about being creative and how important we think creativity is in daily life. Don’t forget to check out the show notes for more information on the things we mentioned.

I have been away from my sewing machine more than I would like lately. I usually have a project to take along with me but I have finished all of the ones in my take along bag. I find that I yearn for something to keep my hands occupied and busy. Okay maybe I should be honest and say that when I have something to stitch I don’t have to talk to too many people. I know I am not the only one like that. I know all of the other introverts get that statement.
I have been looking around for a quick holiday themed project. I really would like to have more handmade things to one day give to my girls for their first Christmas tree. I know, I know that is so far away but if I start now with a deadline that far away they might just have enough for a Charlie Brown tree. Ha.
Here are some fun cross stitch projects I found that look super cute and quick.
Stitch the Halls just looks like an amazing book. I mean that cover is amazing. Sophie Simpson of What Delilah Did has other cute titles as well such as Secret Garden Embroidery and Storyland Cross Stitch. They all look like amazing books and they are even available on kindle.
Next up are the amazing ladies, Amanda & Ashleigh, of The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery. I was lucky enough to hang out with these ladies at QuiltBliss and they totally blew me away with their designs. I really love their kits that include everything you need to make something super cute to display when you are decking the halls. I find that if I get a kit that has everything I need to throw in my take along bag I will finish it and not get discouraged or run out of something.
The one that caught my eye for Christmas is the A Very Merry Christmas Town which would be perfect to frame when finished. They seriously have a shop full of things to stitch for every season, occasion, or, well, just anything your heart desires.
The last, but certainly not least, is this cute ornament from Red Gate Stitchery. I love this Etsy shop so much that I mentioned it in my latest newsletter, The Stych. (If you aren’t sewscribing to The Stych you are missing out. Go sew scribe now, I promise you will be glad you did.)
I think this is a small enough project that I could work on them and feel like I accomplished something. Sometimes that feels so good to just finish a project fast. I also think my girls would enjoy working on these as well. I think they would want to paint them first because girls like to paint in this house. We paint anything and everything.
I hope you are inspired to stitch up some projects for the holidays. I know I can’t wait to have more handmade in my holidays.
Wanna see more stitching inspiration for the holidays? What are some things you would like? I love to find stuff so comment away!

Let’s meet Amy Ellis from Amy’s Creative Side. Amy is a blogger, author of several awesome books, quilter, podcaster, and so much more. We all can thank Amy for hosting the bi-annual blogger’s quilt festival. You know the one that everyone links up to with their quilts?!?! It is like pure eye candy. I love seeing everyone’s creations and it is so much inspiration too. Everyone has a different style and likes but we all love to sew which means we are awesome. Just kidding. not really:) Click HERE to find out more information about the Blogger’s Quilt Festival.
Amy also hosted the pillow collective recently and this girl likes to inspire us in major ways. I kept seeing these awesome pillows pop up and I liked every single one of them. I couldn’t believe that the quilting universe had all got the pillow memo at the same time. Well they sure did… the pillow collective memo from Amy that is. She had so many people do tutorials and show their pillows. You can even link your pillows up soon on Amy’s blog to win some awesome prizes. So follow Amy’s blog or social media to see when that is happening. I mentioned in the podcast I have one made but it need to be quilted. I really need to get on that!
There are several quilt-alongs that Amy has hosted that are over but the information is still up if you are interested in checking those out on her blog. I think the Dancing Stars and Simple Sampler would be so much fun to work on in cheery colors to make you think of Spring. It will be here soon. Click on the picture and it will take you to the Quilt-along page on Amy’s blog.
Books. This girl knows how to write a great book. She knows her stuff and man do I wish I could do math like her:) She has SEVEN books with her name as the author/co-author which is totally amazing. I love a girl that is driven. She loves the modern quilting world and her books all share that passion. Modern Neutrals is for the modern quilter who likes to work in neutrals which really gives a less busy look and more of a contemporary vibe. I think these would be great guy quilts too. It is so hard to find stuff to make guys sometimes in this very colorful quilting world we all love. Modern Basics and Modern Basic II are geared for beginners or quilters who need simple but fabulous quilt blocks. I love how Amy says find the time to sew no matter where you do it or how but find the time to enjoy the skill of sewing. I agree. I love that these two books give you a great foundation and help you see that with some simple construction you can make beautiful quilts.
She also has some great tutorials on the blog. I asked her if there was a most popular and she said probably the Quilted Bible Cover so I thought I would share that one with you guys. So head on over and check out her tutorials page.
Okay guys stay tuned for more about Amy and I think we may have a giveaway for a couple of her books coming up!!!!! YEA!
