MS episode 141:: Svetlana from S.O.T.A.K. handmade

ep141art sotak

Svetlana from S.O.T.A.K. handmade is someone I have followed via her amazing blog and social media accounts for a long time. I love her classicly modern patterns and playful handmades. I also love seeing how she mixes fabrics in her projects. Her latest posts boast bags made with waxed canvas which makes me want to make my own version right away. Svetlana is fearless with her creative endeavors which range from making bags to quilts to hand stamping her own prints. We chat about her patterns, her creative process, and I ask all the business questions because I am a huge admirer of her business model. I get all of the information about her gorgeous photographs of her makes and why she has decided to keep her personal life out of her business life. She seriously has some of the cutest photographs on her blog and social media. I left this conversation so inspired to think about my own business in a new way as well as my creative life. Svetlana also has an amazing resource of tutorials that I will make sure to link to in the show notes.  (more…)

My guest today is Rachel Hauser of Stitched in Color. I have been a fan of Rachel’s blog for a long time and I give her the awesome blogger award several times in this episode. She has so much amazing content on her website that you can spend hours finding projects to make or getting inspiration for your new project. She shares how she got started sewing and why she decided to take her passion online, what she has learned, her most popular posts and patterns, and her latest class Stitched Holiday. I really enjoyed this chat with Rachel and I know you will too.

MS episode 122:: Michelle Bartholomew

episode 122 art michelle bartholomew

Stephanie Kendron chats with Michelle Bartholomew about all things sewing. I met Michelle in real life at Quiltcon in Savannah, Ga this year. A group of us met up at an oyster bar one night and Michelle tried oysters for the first time. I am not lying when I say there were so many laughs that night mixed with a lot of quilt talk. I invited Michelle on to talk about her adventure into pattern design for her own brand and collaborating with friends in the industry for Quilt Theory. I also ask a ton of questions about her tiny house that she used to call home, her fabric stash, and her favorite newsletters. You won’t want to miss this episode.
